Dr. Kristia Mardones

Originally from Central New Jersey, Dr. Kristia Mardones graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, M.D. in 2012 where she received her Bachelors of Science degree. Dr. Mardones majored in Biology with a minor in Philosophy.

Following her lifelong dream of becoming an optometrist, she crossed the country to attend Pacific University College Of Optometry in Portland, Oregon. While at Pacific University Dr. Mardones was an active member of AOSA and the Student Council. Dr. Mardones was also very involved in the charity student group AMIGOS that provided eye care to underserved populations around the world. Dr. Mardones participated in a service trip to Romania during the summer of 2013.

She obtained her Doctorate of Optometry after completing multiple internships across the United States. She spent time in Chandler, Arizona at Family Optometry focusing on Vision Therapy and Pediatrics; Gillette Optometry Clinic focusing on pediatrics and primary eye care; Fairfield Connecticut at Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut focusing on medical and emergency eye care and lastly in Fort Belvoir, Virginia at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital focusing on primary and medical eye care.

Dr. Mardones is board certified in Maryland through the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and is certified to use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. She is currently an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Maryland Optometric Association. Dr. Mardones specializes in primary eye care and treats patients of all ages. She especially enjoys treating pediatric patients.

Dr. Mardones is new to the area and enjoys going to the beach and to the gym. She loves reading mystery novels and traveling to new cities. She hopes in the future she will be able to participate with international organizations to continue to provide eye care to underserved populations.

Dr. Mardones has office hours in Salisbury and Ocean Pines.
